D’Arcy’s Wine Bar in Horsham has announced it will close its doors for the final time on Saturday 31 January, marking the end of a much-loved local hospitality venue.
In a heartfelt social media post, owner Paul Davies shared the difficult decision to close D’Arcy’s Wine Bar, describing it as a place born out of a genuine love of wine and a desire to create somewhere people could come together to share that passion.
Since opening, D’Arcy’s has become a popular spot in the town, hosting birthdays, parties and special celebrations. Among its standout moments, the venue was even chosen as the setting for a wedding proposal last summer — a detail that highlights the role it has played in many personal milestones for locals.
Paul also paid tribute to both past and present staff, thanking them for their dedication and the memories created behind the bar, as well as the loyal customers who supported the business. He reflected on the joy of watching guests discover new wines, spend time with friends and loved ones, and be part of what he described as “the good times and special moments we’ve created together”.
The post also touched on the wider challenges facing the hospitality industry, noting the increasing difficulty of sustaining businesses in the current environment, despite the sector’s importance in building friendships, skills and community.
To mark the occasion, D’Arcy’s Wine Bar has invited customers old and new to join them for one final celebration on 31 January, encouraging everyone to raise a last glass, share a laugh and end on a high note.
The closure will undoubtedly be felt by many in Horsham, with D’Arcy’s leaving behind a legacy of warmth, connection and shared memories.
